Not always, but teeth that have had root canal treatment can be weaker or more brittle, so a crown is often recommended to protect against cracks or fractures.
Infection can spread, pain may worsen, and an abscess can form, often leading to tooth loss or wider complications. Root canal treatment removes infection and preserves the tooth.
Very rarely, infection can return. If this happens, we may discuss re-treatment or referral to a specialist endodontist.
This depends on the tooth and complexity; some cases are completed in one appointment, while others may require two.
